Migration

WordPress to Strapi Migration

Replatform WordPress content into Strapi without losing URLs, SEO equity, or editorial sanity — then ship a fast Next.js (or Gatsby) frontend.

Scoped after content audit · often 6–12 weeks

WordPress to Strapi migrations fail when teams treat them as a dump-and-hope export. Content models, media, redirects, and preview have to be designed before scripts run — especially when product catalogs or thousands of pages are involved.

We have migrated WordPress estates into Strapi for headless commerce and marketing sites, including a 30,000+ product catalog move for Trikora with Gatsby and Next.js front ends. The pattern is idempotent imports, slug preservation, batch validation, and a cutover plan editors can actually follow.

If you are stuck on plugin bloat, slow themes, or a content model WordPress cannot express cleanly, a Strapi migration paired with Next.js is often the lowest-risk path to editorial independence and better Core Web Vitals.

What you get

  • Content model designed for pages, products, and reusable blocks
  • Automated migration scripts with dry-run validation
  • 301 redirect map for every legacy URL that moves
  • Next.js or Gatsby frontend with preview and SEO metadata
  • Editor training on the new Strapi workflow

Migration process

  1. 01

    Audit & model

Inventory post types, ACF fields, media, and URL patterns. Design the Strapi schema so editors compose pages from sections — not one giant WYSIWYG field.

  2. 02

    Migrate in batches

Export, transform, and import with idempotent scripts. Spot-check relations and images before the next batch so errors do not compound.

  3. 03

    Frontend & redirects

Ship the new front end against Strapi APIs. Map every old URL to its new destination or a deliberate 301 — then verify in staging before DNS cutover.

  4. 04

    Cutover & train

Flip traffic with a rollback plan. Train editors on draft/publish and document how to add pages without opening a development ticket.

FAQ

Will we lose Google rankings during a WordPress to Strapi migration?
Not if redirects, metadata, and crawlable HTML are part of the plan. We preserve slugs where possible, ship a full 301 map, and keep Next.js server rendering so Googlebot sees real content — then monitor Search Console after launch.
Can you migrate large product catalogs?
Yes. Trikora moved 30,000+ products from WordPress to Strapi with cart and wishlist flows on the new stack. Catalog size changes batching and validation — not whether the migration is possible.
Do we have to leave WordPress entirely?
No. Some teams keep WordPress as a headless backend. We recommend full Strapi (or another headless CMS) when plugin debt, performance, or modeling limits are the real problem — and we say so honestly during discovery.
